The Residential Heat Load Calculations course can be taken on-line but is strongly suggested to be taken in person.

This course covers in-depth construction materials and how they affect the Heat Loss/Heat Gain of a structure along with:

• Why perform a heat loss calculation
• Process of calculating heat loss
• What affects the rate of heat loss

The course materials will cover R-values and U-values for the following:

• Doors
• Windows
• Skylights

The 3 methods of heat transfer are covered:

• Conduction through solid materials
• Convection through air and liquid movement
• Radiation through space
