This course will focus on the reading and interpreting information from wiring diagrams that are commonly used in the HVAC/R industry. Electrical troubleshooting is the most important skill that a HVACR service technician can obtain. It’s a known fact that most HVAC/R malfunctions are electrical in nature (roughly 70-80% of service calls).
Course Description
During this course the students will use live schematics of the trainers in the lab. They will be expected to successfully wire the outside and the inside unit from scratch. After the units are verified as correct by an instructor, the student will then turn on the system and go thru a variety of troubleshooting scenarios such as:
Blown Fuses
Tripped Breakers
Burnt Wiring
Bad Capacitors
Bad Contractors
Faulty Transformer
Bad Motors
Faulty Control Board
Faulty Heat Strips etc..
Sadly, electrical troubleshooting and wire diagram usage is poorly developed skill which leads to expensive parts changing and costly callbacks. This course rates a 10 out of 10 with most technicians.
