Why CTI? Our HVAC Technician Training History
Why CTI? Our HVAC Technician Training History
History of our CTI HVAC Career Industry Training
Our promise to you is that this is the only school where you will become a champion technician in the HVAC career industry among others in this field with the same amount, or even more, time and experience as you. Typically, someone pursues a specialized trade field because traditional college may not be the right fit for them. Whether it is a financial obstacle or a time issue, it is for these reasons, and many others, that I am proud to be able to offer this great alternative.
For four years, Andy Cross – President of Champion Technician Institute has been working on plans for starting a school solely focused on the training of entry level personnel into the HVAC career industry. The availability of trained HVAC technicians is a huge obstacle for numerous HVAC companies all over the United States. Andy believes that ensuring people are properly trained for how to make successful HVAC service calls, will position that person to be in high demand with the certainty of employment unmatched–not just employed, but employed at a nice salary.
Andy has finalized the curriculum, established training spaces with actual equipment, and secured the experienced HVAC professionals to teach the class. The class is a 30 day class. This is quite different than other HVAC career industry schools where you may spend months learning useless information and from instructors that have little to no practical experience. Andy feels that, with focused effort, a student can learn the critical and essential skills needed to become a certified HVAC technician and have the knowledge and confidence to pass the EPA 608 certification, among other certifications.
This is CTI’s first venture into the HVAC Technician certification world, but with our experience and course plan we fully expect this to be one of the most “In-Demand” courses in the United States. Where else can you go and learn a specialized skill in 30 days, get certified, and go to work starting a new career in the very lucrative HVAC industry. Our ideal student is anyone looking for something new, enjoys a challenge, one that is ambitious, looking for an alternative to a 4 year college degree, or maybe you are just ready to start a new career. Simple answer is that there isn’t a typical student. Students come to us from all walks of life and looking for a variety of outcomes.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school and curriculum. We know that you will fully enjoy your time in Mobile Alabama and the education that you are to receive from CTI. We fully expect you to have questions and we stand ready to provide any answers you need. We want you to be informed and comfortable knowing that you are about to a great leap forward in your career. In 10 years you are going to look back and realize that you made the right decision. For more information, please call Stacy at 888-580-4822 .
Andy’s Cross’ History of HVAC Career Training
Andy has had the pleasure of teaching at some of the major technical colleges in the Mobile, Alabama area. He had the privilege of starting, from scratch, the HVAC diploma program at one of these colleges. He started his HVAC career in 1981 as a helper working for Mr. A.J. Cross, his father. He received his engineering degree from the University of Houston. He later went on to become the regional manager for Honeywell Controls Company. Then one day in 1979 he decided to open a local HVAC company called A.C. Maintenance and Control, Inc. It was then that his future path was set in motion. He always knew that the HVAC industry was where he would make his living. And it has made him a great living!
His father knew the value of good education in whatever field you decide to work. It was for that reason that Andy was given the opportunity to attend over 100 learning courses in the first 10 years of his career. The most important being at the Carrier University where he received his degree in Air Conditioning and Heating in Syracuse, New York. This two-year course was “Carrier’s Basic Design Course” taught by Mr. Joseph Carrier himself. The Carrier Corporation was founded by Mr. Willis Carrier who is still today referred to by many as the “father of air conditioning”.
It was through this experience that Andy would later learn to appreciate and understand the importance of learning and understanding the basic principles of air conditioning and how they would apply to one’s successful future in the industry. It was 10 years later that he purchased A.C. Maintenance and Control, Inc. from his father.
Another lesson in appreciating something is to pay for it instead of it being just given to you. Andy has had the privilege of traveling our great nation speaking and teaching to other owners and their technicians to find the number one shortage in this industry, that we could all agree on, was good technicians. There does not seem to be enough good technicians to meet the growing demand of HVAC businesses. It is for this reason that Champion Technician Institute is proud to offer our 30-day fast track program.
Who should attend this 30-day fast track program?
Anyone that has a high school diploma or GED and loves the hands-on experience of fixing or creating something and then watching it work while making a great living in this HVAC industry would always regret not attending this program.
