Electrical Theory and Application for HVACR Technicians

Course Description

This course begins with the “Safety and Hazard Awareness” section. A safe work environment is the responsibility of everyone involved. Technicians must know how to protect themselves and others when working with electricity.

  • Electrical shock
  • Electrical burns
  • Non-conducting ladders
  • Lockout-tagout procedures
  • Safety guidelines
  • Portable electric tools
  • Learn first aid

The student will then learn what electricity is and how to use it in:

  • Diagnosing problems
  • Understanding wiring diagrams
  • Initial wiring installation
  • Troubleshooting motors
  • Ohm out compressors
  • Ohm out capacitors

The student will gain a more in-depth knowledge by introducing:

  • Contactors
  • Relays
  • Transformers
  • Thermostats
  • Reversing Valve
  • Sequencers
  • Contactor coil burnout
  • Solenoid valves
  • Defrost timers

This course is easily the largest and most in-depth course in the “HVAC Technician Fast Track Program.”
