Electrical Theory and Application for HVACR Technicians
Course Description
This course begins with the “Safety and Hazard Awareness” section. A safe work environment is the responsibility of everyone involved. Technicians must know how to protect themselves and others when working with electricity.

- Non-conducting ladders
- Lockout-tagout procedures
- Safety guidelines
- Portable electric tools
- Learn first aid
The student will then learn what electricity is and how to use it in:
- Diagnosing problems
- Understanding wiring diagrams
- Initial wiring installation
- Troubleshooting motors
- Ohm out compressors
- Ohm out capacitors
The student will gain a more in-depth knowledge by introducing:
- Contactors
- Relays
- Transformers
- Thermostats
- Reversing Valve
- Sequencers
- Contactor coil burnout
- Solenoid valves
- Defrost timers
This course is easily the largest and most in-depth course in the “HVAC Technician Fast Track Program.”
