Basic Refrigeration and Charging Procedures

Course Description

This course will concentrate on the refrigeration cycle and it’s components along with the different methods of charging different systems.

Step by step animated tutorials and hands-on operation of the components of the refrigeration cycle.

The student will experience a highly interactive course while:

  • Learning about condensing pressure at which the refrigerant changes state from a vapor to a liquid.
  • Learning about evaporating pressure at which the refrigerant changes state from a liquid to a vapor.

While modern refrigerants exist either in the vapor or liquid state (rarely in the frozen or solid state), refrigerants can co-exist as vapor and liquid. Along with refrigerant pressures and states, the student will:

  • Learn what and when a refrigerant is saturated.
  • Learn what and when a refrigerant is superheated.
  • Learn what and when a refrigerant is sub-cooled

After a thorough knowledge of the pressures, states, and conditions of the refrigerants and how they exist in the refrigeration cycle, the student will use different charging methods such as:

  • Capillary tube
  • Piston
  • TXV
  • Critical charge
  • Sight glass
